Edited by: Cal Drago on 25/12/2004 02:00:13 Well I don't know what I'm doing right, because my setup works just fine. I've been doing Lvl 3 Agent missions solo for weeks in this bird and never once had to warp out or gone into armor. With a tech 2 booster + SBA + the ship's bonus, you repair an insane amount of damage and 3 PDU's let me run it nonstop for a long time.
The even spread of slots on a Minmatar ship gives you more versatility. You already have two races that specialize. What would be the point of having every race the same?

YeahHere's my setup for those of you who care:
High: 5 - 720mm howitzers 3 - Heavy Launchers
Med: 1 Med SB 2 1 SB Amp 1 Active hardener (changed out depending on what you're fighting). 1 10mn AB
Low: 1 BCM 4 - PDUs

Everybody get seriously worked up whenever there aren't at least 2 active hardeners. Oh No! You're going to take more damage! Gee, good thing you repair an insane amount with a tech 2 SB, Amp, and the ship's bonus to boosting. If you don't believe me, try it. The PDUs keep the cap flowing to support it too. Not indefinitely, but that's what all of those drones and weapons are for: to reduce the number of attackers!

Before the propulsion changes, I had a second active hardener on there and no AB. This setup works. If if doesn't work for you, you need to rethink your combat strategy. I'm not going to be hypocritical and say that you just don't know what you're doing and that's why you can't make this ship work. All I'll say is that I love this ship to death. People look at the fact that Minmatar ships have an even spread of slots and get all worked up. "It's not geared toward one or the other", they cry. Exactly. The best part about Minmatar ships is the versatility. Get creative with your setup and you may find a combination that PWNS.
Oh and to those who say that projectiles are garbage: I'll be happy to post the stats from my combat log analyzer. My 720s are doing the job just fine. They're 90% of the reason this setup works. The Rats go "pop" before they even have a chance to fire.

P.S. Sorry about the multiple posts. It wouldn't let me post all of that in one post for some reason.

I've got a little over 6 mil, Masta. Most of which are gunnery skills. I spend most of my time optimizing ship setups and practicing different combat techniques to hone my PvP skills as well as mission running skills. I use a BC because I like it, but I have no problem doing Lvl 3 solo in a cruiser.
I have a passively shield tanked Ferox that can sit in the Mordrus mission and tank the damage they deal forever. It recharges the equivalent of a Large Shield booster nonstop without using any cap. When I just want to sit in one place and blow stuff up, that's the ship I use. Otherwise, I like my Cyclone and my Prophecy. The Cyclone dishes out good damage. Those 720s are brutal. I only wish I could fit a damage mod without sacrificing my cap recharge. I'd like to see them do even more damage. Maybe if I fit some PDU IIs.

LOL. I was also curious about the "named PDUs". I've never seen any other than the ones that are barely better than basic. Am I missing something?

Naturally. Anyone that uses minmatar ships eventually realizes that missiles will do more damage than guns, and thus replaces any gyrostabs or tracking mods with Ballistic Control Modules
It's funny you should say that because I kill most of the big rats with the guns and only use the missiles on the fast orbiting frigs and webber drones.
Those 720s are far more effective than people give them credit for. The only reason I have a BCM is to compensate for my somewhat lacking heavy missile skill.

Why oh why in the name of god are you using a 100mn AB on the Cyclone? It makes it a slow ponderous turd! *shudder*
